Update Report 24

Good evening everyone, it's Tyrus. Lets start this report.

First of all, book 2 is nearing completion. The only things left to do is chapters 22 and 23, along with editing. Chapter 24 has been completed already (I did them out of order since I felt like I was making more progress with 24 than 22.) Chapter 24 is now officially the longest chapter in the book, with over 5000 words. And honestly, I think it might be the best worldbuilding and character interaction I've written so far. I'm very proud of it, and I cannot wait for everyone to read it all when it's done!

Second of all, I have finally started making short videos again. I didn't really make them, since I'm so uncomfortable with voice over, but I'm finally sucking it up and just doing it. I've started a new short video right now, and it's going to go more in-depth about Fire Magic. If anyone would like to see a short about a specific topic, let me know, I'll happily explain anything!

Third of all, personal life. Things are actually going pretty okay. I got some dental work done today, which explains why this report is being made later in the day. I've been feeling a little more motivation, and I was able to write 700, 1000, and 600 words within just a few days of each other, much better than I was doing before! Hopefully I can ride this motivation just a little longer, and I can finish book 2 by Late-Fall. I can't express how disappointed I am that this book has taken so much longer than my first one, but I've never stopped writing and thinking of my book. I really hope that everyone enjoys the finished product.

That's all for today, thank you again for enduring my erratic writing behavior, and I hope you all continue to anticipate the next installment in the Advent Novel series!

Good evening everyone, it's Tyrus. Let me share what's been going on:

First of all, progress is coming. We're still at a pretty slow pace. It's really hard to write how I want these last few chapters to go, but I STILL have not stopped. My estimate of mid-fall might be pushed back to late-fall to early winter, but it's STILL coming along. I sincerely apologize for not finishing the book sooner, I know you're all very excited to see how it comes to be. I don't want to make any excuses, even if I do have several big ones. I'm gonna keep writing, and book 2 will be great. I'll definitely be taking a break afterwards, but I promise I still won't be giving up.

Secondly...I just want to apologize again for the lack of content. I know a lot of people want to see more shorts and videos, but it's a lot harder to find motivation and inspiration to get these things done. If you REALLY want anything more from me, try reaching out to me on my socials. If you're a fan, I'd love to talk to you, even if it's unrelated to my book and brand. I just feel like I've put so much effort into my work, received very little reward, which leads to less motivation to use effort. Normally you can break this cycle, but when it comes to creativity, you can't really force it. I'm not using this as an excuse, mind you. I AM STILL WORKING, and I will KEEP working until this book is done.

Thirdly, personal life. Only thing I can really say right now: DAMN, it is HOT. I like summer, but the last few years have really sucked. Winter is still a lot worse though. I'm Canadian, I would know. And I'm going to be working at my personal job for several days in a row, so that's less time for writing. I don't want to apologize for all three paragraphs, but again. I'm sorry this book is taking too long. Still recovering from my grandfather's death, this heat is killing me, and I'm feeling lost creative-wise. But still, as the old saying goes, "Fuck it, we ball." We carry on.

Anyway, sorry for rambling this time. I'm still working, and I hope I can keep my promises more often. Thank you for reading, and I hope you all continue to anticipate the next installment in the Advent Novel series!

Hello everyone, Tyrus here. Here's another report.

First of all, as usual, progress is still being made. I think I've mentioned it before, but I've stopped writing the remaining chapters in order. I just write whatever I feel like writing now. It breaks up the remaining work more easily, and keeps my mind fresh instead of just stewing on one scene of a chapter for weeks. I'm really frustrated on how close I am to finishing the book, yet burnt out so much. I'm sure if I had to energy I had when I first started the book, I would have finished it in just two weeks. But that's what burnout does to people, I guess. I'm gonna take a break for a bit upon finishing book 2 so I don't die writing book 3.

Second of all, I have started another Youtube Channel! This channel is simply called "Tyrus Tisdale" and it's where all my author stuff will go. There will be short videos, my rambles, and stuff of the like. It's an early work in progress, but more videos will appear soon. Right now, all I have are my two Advent shorts. Planning on adding more soon!

https://www.youtube.com/@TyrusTisdale

Third, my personal life...I'll be very blunt with you guys. The family issues I mentioned? It was over my grandfather, Papa. He very unfortunately passed away yesterday from cancer. His diagnosis devastated my family, and his passing, in just two days, has broken us down so much. But, the last time I saw him, he was smiling, and he said he was proud of me. So, I'm still in pain, but I still want to write. I'm gonna pace myself and not burnout, but I swear, my resolve to become an incredible writer with moving stories is stronger than ever. I might make something more directly dedicated to him, but this has all been very hard on us the past several months. It's why this last book has taken so long to make. But I promised to make him even prouder, and I promise everyone to finish this book. I'll be fine.

Thank you everyone for understanding. Hope to see you guys next time. Thank you for reading, and I hope you all continue to anticipate the next installment in the Advent Novel series!

Mars: Terrible. I want to stab everybody there.

Update report 21

Hello everyone, Tyrus here. You already know what's up.

First of all, book progress is...slow. Being very transparent, I've done very little. Even though I've technically had quite a lot of free time, not much is being spent on my book. I'm really burnt out, even when I'm only two and a half chapters away from finishing. Along with the family issue still going on, mental exhaustion and burnout have been kicking my ass like a football. I'm still aiming for mid-fall, but when this was supposed to be finished back in May, I don't even know when it will be done, and when it SHOULD be done. I still want to give it the time it needs, but shit. Thing's have been really difficult recently. Things have NOT stopped, just moving very slow.

Second of all, as promised, I have a small QNA that I started last report. I want to answer some important questions I got across various accounts!

Q1: "Who's your favorite side character?"
A1: Without a doubt, Eris. She's not only REALLY fun to write, but she's definitely a fan-favorite too.

Q2: "Will we get to know more about Eris' backstory and Scott's backstory?"
A2: Yes. Admittedly, both were a little rushed in book 1, but the two are fleshed out more in book 2, especially Eris.

Q3: "Are any of the characters from book one (besides the squad and Vyrus) coming back into the 2nd book?"
A3: Yes. Almost everyone in book 1 will return to book 2 and most of the series too. Though, specifically for Vyrus, he will play more of a backseat role in book 2. He's not seen much, only mentioned a lot. This is by design to make him feel more like a presence than an actual slasher villain mixed with god-complex anime edge.

Q4: "Any new people joining the squads?"
A4: Not specifically the squads. New characters are inevitable with any sequel piece of media, but the squads will stay as squads. Both hero and villain characters will appear in book 2 without a doubt.

Q5: "Will the military be shown more in book 2?"
A5: Yes. The military ACTUALLY does something useful in book 2 other than see Vyrus, and instantly run away from his insane aura.

Q6: "If Flash could face another fictional character, who would you put him up against?"
A6: Despite the very obvious inspiration from Cloud Strife, I think Flash has a really solid matchup against Deku from My Hero Academia. Both show complete opposites of heroism: Deku is a bleeding heart, always putting himself in danger to save others, wanting to be the best hero every, and always strong enough to save people. Flash by comparison, is a desensitized, stoic type, always getting in danger with others against his will, just wanting to survive and kill The Advent, and being just strong enough to save himself, but rarely having the strength to save others. These two would either be great friends, or give each other a hell of a fight. Would really like an official crossover one day, if I ever get big enough.

Q7: "What genres would you try writing in next?"
A7: Obviously, Sci-Fi and Fantasy are my top picks, but here's a small list of things I'd like to write, from most wanted to least wanted: Adventure, Horror, Mystery, Comedy, and a few others.

Q8: "Okay but can Flash beat Goku?"
A8: AIN'T NOBODY BEATING GOKU!

Q9: "Biggest inspirations?"
A9: The biggest inspirations for The Advent include Final Fantasy 7 (Similar hero and villain, magic system, and grand planet theme) DOOM (For the bloody, gory combat) Metal Gear Rising (For the sci-fi aspects) And of course, Splatoon (Heavily inspired Oceanids and the general setting of The Advent.)

Q10: "Unrelated to writing, but what's your favorite video game?"
A10: For impact? Final Fantasy 7. Unironically changed my life forever. For what I play for fun? Team Fortress 2. Still play it a lot. Maybe you've met me as "iFlashboy" in some games. Say hi if you've seen me!

Q11: "What made you want to be a writer?"
A11: Big answer for this one: Okay, so, ever since I was young, I was almost ALWAYS playing make-believe, with toys, or just creating stories. I remember my first time writing a comic book was when I was, maybe 8 or 9. It was called "Bird Boy and Feather Freak," a superhero story inspired by Batman (Who I STILL think is the COOLEST fictional character to ever exist, despite naming my main character after another well known DC hero.) But as I was growing up, my passions lied more towards science, like being a paleontologist, or a scientist in general. It was only around 5th grade when I realized I actually wanted to be a youtuber, and I made my channel on August 10th 2015 (The ten year anniversary is coming up REALLY soon.) For a long time, I made videos and wanted to do that for life...until I lost interest in that too. So, my goals changed AGAIN, this time as a game developer. And then again, as an electrician. Then BACK to a scientist, specifically as a chemist. (I LOVE chemistry, and the knowledge helped keeping The Advent somewhat scientifically grounded.) As I was in high school taking my Chem class, as always when I was bored, I wanted to keep myself entertained by making up a chemist character. He was super smart, could solve any problem, and took the world by storm by just how intelligent and creative he was.
Only THEN did reality hit me: I spent so much more time AND have more fun creating this fictional character doing chemistry, than I ACTUALLY spent doing, or having fun doing chemistry MYSELF.
This realization was HUGE. After so many years of just making up stories to keep myself entertained, I realized that it's what I genuinely enjoyed doing. And this was near the end of my high-school days, so I figured it out real late in my life. After finally having my "Eureka!" moment, I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to actually work on my stories instead of just using them as an escape from boredom or hardship. And if my stories made me happy, maybe they could make other people happy too. That's why I want to write, I want to genuinely help people through tough times just by giving them an escape, a character to believe in, or just something to live for. And I can write pretty much anything I want. By my count, I have about 12 different stories I want to write someday, and that's only in the last two years since I first started writing, (I started writing book 1 around this time in 2023) So, I'm going to keep doing that.

But also, the biggest thing for me was, uh...failing that chemistry class.
LISTEN OKAY, IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I MISSED A LOT OF STUFF, I COULDN'T HELP IT-

Okay, well, that's all the questions I got. Hope to see you guys next time. Thank you for reading, and I hope you all continue to anticipate the next installment in the Advent Novel series!

Hello everyone, Tyrus here! Today's a very special day!

One year ago today, July 17th. 2024, The Advent's Arrival was dropped into the world! It's been a huge dream of mine to create something more than just some YouTube videos and dumb memes. My dream is slowly becoming a reality, and I'm so happy.

I remember when I was young, my first big passion was being a YouTuber and playing games for a living. I started making some pretty...well, they were terrible videos. But no matter how unrefined art is, art is all about passion, and the passion was definitely there. I got worn out of just making videos, and I wanted to make games instead, so I took some coding classes and stuff, but still, nothing really stuck around. But, whenever I was bored, I remember just thinking of big stories with a lot of characters and powers and everything. I did this for most of my life, playing pretend or just making stories out of barely anything. Even when I was in high school taking a chemistry class, because I wanted to be a chemist for a serious career, I was thinking of a chemist character. He was a super genius who could make almost anything and solve any problem. It was only somehow THEN when I realized: "Hey, I'm having more fun thinking of a chemist character than actually doing chemistry." That was probably the most important "Eureka" moment I've had in my life and genuinely changed my life.

...also, it probably helps that I failed that chem class, but bro, that is genuinely NOT my fault—

Okay ANYWAY, I'm sure there's a lot more that I could talk about, so lets do this: A QNA! Next report, I will answer a bunch of questions you all have about The Advent's Arrival, my own writing process, and the lore behind everything! Please note that I won't talk about spoilers too heavily, but it IS something I might do. Leave a comment on this post (It's free, and you don't need an account) and I'll answer them next report!

Speaking of spoilers, I got a bit of a treat for you guys...I know Book 2 has been taking forever for a number of reasons...So, how about a preview?

That's right, the first three chapters of The Advent Part 2: Destiny's Reach is now available for FREE! I hope everyone reads the preview and gives me their thoughts! I've been working so hard on every chapter, and I hope this interests everyone who enjoyed book 1!

(Disclaimer: This preview has not undergone professional editing, and is subject to change)

Anyway, once again, thank you so much everyone for supporting me and my dream. I love doing this, and I hope to do it for many years to come. I think we should make this a holiday, and call it Adve--

Oh, wait...maybe we shouldn't. I think something like that already exists.

And, hey! It looks like Flash himself wants to say something to you guys!

"Hey...I'm not too good with words, but...thanks. For believing in me, and following my story. Didn't think anybody would give a fuck about what happened to me...glad I was wrong. Thanks, really."

Thanks, Flash! And here's to another year of writing!

Update Report 20

Hello everyone, Tyrus here with a late report. Let's get started.

First of all, progress is progressing. Chapter 21 is nearing the end, making it a relatively fast chapter to write. I'm so close to the end, I just know I can get it done soon. I've been doing my best to keep the pacing solid and the action heavy, so this chapter might be one of the best. It REALLY shows what happens when Flash is under ideal conditions and just locks the fuck in. Not much more to say other than that.

Second of all, tomorrow is a VERY special day, and some fans will probably know why: July 17th is The Advent's Arrival's one year anniversary. It's pretty crazy how far I've come. Just a simple kid with a dream, now a published author with...somewhat of a following. These things take time, and people will be looking back on this day in 5 years and wonder "Wow, I can't believe how much more awesome this guy has gotten."
...okay, maybe that's a stretch, but I'm hoping they say that. Anyway, more information on that tomorrow, so go check the website then!

Third of all, personal life. I went to a fair all day today with friends, hence the late report. Had a pretty fun day, but very tired from all the rides and walking. It's great to have friends, and I hope everyone reading this remembers to cherish their friends. It was a pretty good day all things considered. Other than that, things have been okay. There's just not much to write about today since I'm mostly saving it for tomorrow.

Today was short, but tomorrow will be more elaborate. That's all for this report. I hope everyone has a great day, and continues to anticipate the next installment in The Advent Novel series!

Eris: Mick is mad at me, and I'm not sure why.

Hey everyone, Tyrus here back with another report.

First of all, I just got back from a long weekend, and my mind feels pretty clear. I'm trying to do some more writing, but not pushing myself as hard to avoid burnout again. Chapter 20 is complete, and I've started chapter 21, officially going into overtime compared to book 1, which was only 20 chapters, excluding the short prologue and epilogue. I've also started work on chapter 24, which will be the final chapter, just to get it started and make sure everything lines up. We're near the end, even if I've been saying that for months.

Second of all, I posted a new Advent short on my Instagram, Tik Tok and Bluesky! It talks about the magic system in the story, and I hope to make more explaining each one in detail soon. Apologies the second one took so long, I know there's a few people who want to see it. Voice over always makes me nervous, heh.

Thirdly, my personal life. Things still could be better, but I'm still breathing. I hope everyone had a good Canada day yesterday, and is staying protected from the current heat wave. Hot take (literally) but I STILL prefer summer over winter. +20, or +25 C? Yeah, I can take it. I'll survive. It's kind of rare to get anything over 25 in Canada. But if you give me -20, or even just -15, go fuck off. Not to be dramatic, but I would literally rather die. I get so miserable in winter, it's not even funny. But with how extreme the two seasons are, especially in Alberta Canada, it's really just a matter of picking your poison.

Anyway, that's all for today. I hope you guys enjoyed reading, and continue to anticipate the next installment in The Advent novel series!

Mick: What did you do?
Flash: NOBODY DIED.

Update Report 18

Good morning everyone. Tyrus here with another report.

First, I'm not going to sugarcoat it: I haven't written anything in about five days. Life's been pretty fucking hectic. With a mix of a family crisis, long work hours, and upgrading my computer, I've had very little time to actually write. My brain's been in survival mode for multiple days in a row and, shit dude, I'm just tired. Things really aren't going my way this month. I'm going to try and get some things done in the next few days, but I think you all know by now promises aren't my strong suit.

Second of all, I finally posted one of my first Advent shorts on my social media! (Instagram, Threads, Tiktok, and oh yeah, also I have a Bluesky now.) It seems to be preforming somewhat well on Tiktok, though I'm sure it could surely be better. I won't make any promises on when the next one will be done, since they're practically full-day projects with the editing, which I am very particular on. I'm also not the biggest fan of voice over, so that's another factor.

Third, as mentioned, life really, REALLY sucks right now. I don't want to cry about my problems in life, but just to name a few things: Almost got my front end hit, my dreams have been about as bad as Flash's, and my motivation and inspiration are about as weak as 10 year old lightbulb. When even my DREAMS are telling me life sucks and I probably need therapy, yeah, I kinda need a break. Not from writing, of course, I still love it, but life's just been too much of a bitch. I'm still alive and breathing, and existing. Sometimes that's enough.

Extreme apologies for the VERY negative report this time, I'm obviously only human, as much as I hate that. Hopefully next report will be better. Thank you for reading, and I hope you all continue to anticipate the next installment in the Advent Novel series!

Incorrect Quote:

Kaiden: I'm bored.
Mars: Wanna commit first degree murder?
Kaiden: Sure!

Good Morning everyone, Tyrus here again. Let's get into it.

First of all, progress on The Advent Part 2 is still coming along. I am aiming for 23 or 24 chapters this time around and nearing ever closer to the end. We're closer than ever, and chapter 20 is halfway finished. I cannot wait for you guys to read the story when it's finished. Again, I planned to finish the book by the end of May, but I just kept writing more and adding more stuff in the chapters and I realized I wanted this book to be good, so I had to delay it. But still, we're moving, and even when I'm not directly working on The Advent, I'm still working on other stories! I'm not going to promise any new dates, but if I had to estimate...I might be finished by Mid-Fall.

Second of all, I finally have all the assets I need to get those short videos going! You know, the stuff I promised last report...and the report before that one...man, I'm awful getting stuff on time. But I PROMISE, next week will be the day I start uploading those short videos. I worked with my artist, Iris, once again to get some small art pieces to add while I talk about the lore, characters, and other interesting things of the story!

Third, my personal life. Work's been busy. Haven't gotten to move out like I planned. Getting pretty tired of everything in my life getting delayed. I know I should probably take a break from beating myself up all the time, but I can't help it. I just want to keep working, but I'm getting discouraged. But I'll get tired, I'll get discouraged, because if there's ONE thing, I know I'll never give up. This is the life I chose, and I'm sticking with it for the long run. I'm committed to what I'm doing, and I know it'll pay off later.
...besides, I can't give up yet. I still gotta finish Doom the Dark Ages, and Deltarune when that releases today.

Augh, anyway, that's all for this report! Thank you for reading, and I hope you all continue to anticipate the next installment in the Advent Novel series!

Hello everyone, Tyrus here with another report.

First of all, Book 2 is coming along great! Chapter Eighteen has broken my record word count, nearing 4000 words in a single chapter. And now, the overall word count of book 2 ALSO breaks the last record of 54,000+ words, to over 60,000 words! It's a bigger book this time around just as I planned. but here comes the second shoe...yeah, the book won't be finished by the end of the month. I really wanted to get it done, but I had to keep adding more things to the chapters just to make sure everything was fleshed out and I don't have any regrets. With the chapters I have to write, it's going to take another few weeks to finish. I'm so sorry to disappoint everyone who was excited, but I am still working to get it done as fast as possible, yet still maintaining the quality I want.

Second of all, I ALSO apologize for not delivering those short videos I promised. The assets I need are still in production, and may take a little longer. No promises, but starting, hopefully Sunday, I can get everything ready to start making the videos. As before, the videos will drop pieces of lore, descriptions of weapons, and explanations of abilities. I really do want to make these, and I'm sorry I haven't gotten them out yet.

Thirdly, personal life. I've been doing good, for the most part. I plan on moving out soon, probably by the end of the month. It'll be a big step for me that I'm excited to take. I'm also planning to get a new job afterwards to better support myself. Even with roommates, it'll be tight, but it's the path I want to take. I know damn well that as long as I never back down, I'll make it. And I hope that, in a few years maybe, someone looks at me and find their own reason for pursuing their passions.

Anyway, that's all for today. Thank you for reading, and I hope you all continue to anticipate the next installment in the Advent Novel series!
